classy in Perak Derby

With a proven record over in
distance races in France, FORTUNIQUE reproduced his French form at the right
time to register a runaway win in the RM200,000 Perak Derby over 2400m here
today.
The son of Soldier Of Fortune finished dead last in two starts in Singapore
and has managed just one placing in six starts since moving to Malaysia.
Newly-licensed trainer Simon Dunderdale took over the gelding this year and
today's outing was the third for the Kiwi who has worked in various parts of
the world, his last stop being Turkey.
Ridden for the first time by Benny Woodworth, FORTUNIQUE scored by seven
lengths in the soft going, giving Dunderdale his first big win.
FORTUNIQUE races for three seasons in France, winning four races from 2100m
to 2400m.
The final two races today had to be
cancelled due to poor visibility as a result of the heavy downpour.
