Hanafi lands first
win with Haytham

It has not taken apprentice Hanafi
Noorman long to land his first winner in Singapore after his six-month stint
in New Zealand where he rode four times for two seconds.
Last week, Hanafi came close to making his breakthrough when beaten into
second place on JACKS SECRET in his second ride at Kranji.
But tonight, the 26-year-old made no mistake on the favourite HAYTHAM in the
Benchmark 52 - 1000m sprint on the polytrack.
Hanafi settled HAYTHAM second behind the pacemaker MASTERMIND before taking
over in the home stretch to win comfortably by 1 1/2 lengths. It was the
second win in 12 starts for the gelding.
"I
feel great I rode that first
winner. I actually knew that horse in New Zealand as I won a trial on him by
seven lengths," said Hanafi. "He is pretty strong. I just sat and did my own
thing, and it feels so great and it’s also a relief."
