Indian Jade shines in Perak Gold Vase

Lucky Stable's decision to bring INDIAN JADE to Malaysia after the gelding had a disappointing 2016 in Singapore paid big dividend when he captured the RM150,000 Perak Gold Vase here today.

Despite having won twice and was placed third once in four starts since joining Frank Maynard, INDIAN JADE started the 1100m set-weight sprint at long odds.

Ridden by Shankar Muniandy who himself is making a comeback to racing this year, the English gelding sat just off the pace on the outside fence.

When VOLCANIC GENERAL hit the front 300m out, INDIAN JADE went after him and their pair cleared away from the rest to fight out out, with INDIAN JADE winning by a head. It was Muniandy's first big race win.

INDIAN JADE was one of the top juveniles in Europe, winning twice in England and was third in the Group 1 Grand Criterium at Longchamp.

He was brought to Hong Kong but was unplaced in two starts. In Singapore, INDIAN JADE won four times in 26 starts.
