Kerauno thunders to first-up win

KERAUNO, who did not live up to his price tag despite winning three races in Australia, had made the perfect start to his Malaysian campaign.

Ridden by Anandan Subramaniam, the Equiano gelding settled third in the Enrich Stakes A event over 1200m, then tackled the pacemaker PROBABLY with less than 200m to go.

STICK SEEKER joined in the fray in the final 100m and the trio went to the line locked together. KERAUNO won by a neck from STICKER SEEKER with PROBABLY a further head away third.

KERAUNO was purchased by Tan Sri Vincent Tan and his son for A$420,000 as a yearling. The gelding raced for two seasons at three and four, managing three wins in provincial tracks from 10 starts.

KERAUNO arrived in Penang three months ago and is on leased to Penang Turf Club committee member Saw Lip Khai.

Sharee Hamilton, who now trains KERAUNO, had a superb afternoon, saddling four winners.
