Krisna off the mark on Mighty Emperor

Malaysian apprentice Krisna Kumar Thangamani was off the mark in Singapore when he piloted MIGHTY EMPEROR to victory in the Class 3 - 1700m handicap on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

Krisna recently moved south to join trainer Ricardo Le Grange and it was his master who provided him with the first win at Kranji.

After registering his last win in June, MIGHTY EMPEOR was unplaced twice last month. And in his trial last week when partnered by Krisna, the South African gelding finished last.

It was not surprising that punters ignored the six-year-old today, sending him out at $152.

But MIGHTY EMPEROR was always well up with the pace and went to the line three-quarter length ahead of second favourite SARAAB.

"I’ve always wanted to ride in Singapore. Today I got my first winner here and I’m very happy," said Krisna who rode 23 winners in Malaysia before making the move to Singapore.
