Freedman off the mark in Singapore

Unsuccessful in his debut meeting two days ago, Australian Hall Of Fame trainer Lee Freedman make sure that he started this day well and did exactly that when his first runner this afternoon, MR CLINT, got him off the mark as a Singapore based trainer.

Freedman had won the international race, Singapore Airlines International Cup with MUMMIFY in 2005. 

MR CLINT was originally bought by Laurie Laxon for NZ$95,000 at the Ready To Run sale.

Freedman took over the gelding when he obtained his licence last week.

Ridden by Craig Grylls, MR CLINT came from well off the pace early to snatch victory in the Restricted Maiden - 1200m event.

"It’s nice to get away to a memorable start here and for a horse owned by CK (Phua Chian Kin of Oscar Racing Stable), who has been a great supporter of Laurie’s for many years," said Freedman.

"I’ve actually known CK for a long time during my past visits here. He is a real gentleman and it’s nice to reward him with a winner."
