Pole Paradise in record breaking win

POLE PARADISE caused a mild upset with a comeback win after 14 months in the Benchmark 83 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight.

But even more surprising was that the seven-year-old broke the course record with a time of 1min 4.21secs which was 0.6 second than the previous best set by GOOD NEWS.

POLE PARADISE registered his last win for Daniel Meagher in August last year and this was his first for trainer John O'Hara.

"He’s been knocking on the door," said O'Hara who himself has been winless since SATELLITE PRINCE on Jul 21.

"Derreck (David) also rode a very good race. He knows the horse very well," O'Hara said of the South African jockey who has partnered him in his last three starts.

POLE PARADISE, who had two wins in Australia, has now picked up four wins in Singapore from 29 starts.
