Porsence off the mark in 3YO heat

PORSENCE shed his maiden status at the perfect moment, winning the first heat of the 2017 Malaysia 3YO Championship over 1200m here today.

The Australian gelding came close to winning on New Year's Day when he beat all but MULTIBLUE RANCHO in a Restricted Maiden event over 1200m on this track.

PORSENCE has two more runs since, finishing third (to CIZEN who finished fourth today) and then fourth last time out in February.

Coming off a break of three months, PORSENCE settled just behind the two favourites D'GREAT EFFORT and PANDA BOMB.

D'GREAT EFFORT beat off PANDA BOMB at the 300m but was quickly challenged by PORSENCE. D'GREAT EFFORT, who won three races in Australia and was making his Malaysian debut, fought back tenaciously but ultimately PORSENCE proved a shade too good, winning by a head.
