Lee's Surprise lands runaway win

One of very few Italian breds to race on the local Turf, LEE'S SURPRISE is not only proving his worth in Malaysia but also proving that he still has what it takes despite getting on in years.

Ridden by SS Vanan, the seven-year-old revelled on a soft track to make all the running and romped home by 6 1/2 lengths in a Class 5 - 1000m handicap.

It was his third win of the season and sixth in Malaysia after coming over from Italy where he won a race at two and again at three.

It was a day of the veterans as four other seven-year-olds were also successful - TILSWORTH FREDDIE, KUANTAN HILL,  NOTHING TO LOSE and TRIPLE ONE D'GREAT.

Eight-year-old DUE HOME also found the mark, bagging his seventh win in 62 starts.

The Panel of Stewards after considering the inclement weather and the state of the track decided to cancel Race 10.
