Aramco bags Garden City Trophy

ARAMCO found a passage at the right moment in the home stretch to beat the favourite MISTER YEOH to win the S$200,000 Garden City Trophy at Kranji here today.

The race appeared to be at the mercy of MISTER YEOH at the 300m before ARAMCO, ridden by Vlad Duric, found an opening between runners and burst through to win comfortably by one length.

It was the second black type victory for ARAMCO who also captured the JBBA Rocket Man Sprint last April. The Magic Albert gelding has now won seven times in 18 starts.

"ARAMCO was very relaxed today, he didn’t rip and tear," said trainer Shane Baertschiger. "Vlad wanted to be on him a month ago, and he couldn’t have ridden him any better.”

Baertschiger also won the event with FAALTLESS in 2014 and 2017. The gelding also participated in today's event but finished down the field after setting the pace.
