Aucharuz quickly off the mark in Malaysia

It took just one warm-up ride for Mauritian jockey Akash Aucharuz to get into the winning act at Sungei Besi here this afternoon.

Aucharuz was to make his debut in Penang last week but his sole nominated ride, an emergency acceptor, failed to get into the field.

Aucharuz was unplaced in the opening race today but quickly stepped it up in the next to pilot ITS ONLY MONEY to victory in a Class 5 - 1200m handicap.

Parked handy throughout, ITS ONLY MONEY made his challenge in the final 200m and opened up in fine style close home to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

It's the seventh win in 64 starts for ITS ONLY MONEY whose last victory came a year ago.

Aucharuz joined the South African Jockey Academy in 2012 and quickly built up a good reputation. Later that year, he rode five winners a meeting at Flamingo Park.

Aucharuz is currently based in Macau.

The final three events today were called off due to the inclement weather.
