Street Champ tastes victory after a lapse

SINGAPORE:  Sep , 2018

Eight-year-old STREET CHAMP bounced back to form after 19 months to win the opening event at Sungei Besi here today.

After coming over from Singapore, where he bagged two wins from 34 starts, the American gelding quickly made his mark in his new country winning his second start in Malaysia in February last year.

But STREET CHAMP had to wait for second victory, coming on the heels of two recent placings after a long run of "outs".

STREET CHAMP was sold as weanling in the United States but passed in at the yearling sale. He was then sent over to Great Britain where he was purchased for 24,000 euros as a yearling.

Winning trainer Charles Leck went on to saddle a double with HIGH COUNCIL before inclement weather forced the Selangor Turf Club to cancel the remaining seven races.
