Irish apprentice jockey Emily Finnegan, 25, will be making her Singapore debut tomorrow.

She is the ninth Dux of the South Australian Apprentice Academy to be the beneficiary of a short riding experience at Kranji as part of an agreement between Thoroughbred Racing South Australia and the Singapore Turf Club.

Previous alumni of that deal are Amy Herrmann, Libby Hopwood, Jordan Frew, Krystal Bishop, Jamie Kah, Jake Toeroek, Sigrid Carr and Matthew Poon.

Hailing from an Irish racing family, Finnegan began riding in Australia in 2014. Indentured to leading Adelaide trainer Phillip Stokes, she has booted home 230 winners to-date, most notably, the 2016 Ubet Cinderella Stakes aboard MOSHKI and 2017 Dequetteville Stakes aboard SPLIT UP, both Listed Races.

Finnegan currently sits in seventh place on the South Australian Metropolitan Jockeys’ premiership on 16 winners. She finished third in the 2016-2017 season, which also saw her claim the S.A. Metropolitan Apprentice of the Year title.
