Gutsy win by 3YO filly For Fun Only

FOR FUN ONLY enhanced her chances of getting a berth in the RM200,000 Malaysia 3YO Championship next month with a hard-fought win in the Initiation event over the 1000m straight course here today.

The Australian filly contested the second heat of the 2018 series here last month and finished a long third to RELAU STAR.

With two runs under her belt, FOR FUN ONLY led into the course proper in today's weight-for-age, just ahead of GOOD PEOPLE, near the outside rails.

GOOD PEOPLE headed FOR FUN ONLY momentarily 300m out but started to drift in. FOR FUN ONLY also drifted inwards and the pair of them ended up near the inside rails.

After a tense battle to the line, FOR FUN ONLY just beat GOOD PEOPLE by a neck.

FOR FUN ONLY was purchased by his trainer Chong Keng Leong for A$59,000 as a yearling.

The RM200,000 Malaysia 3YO Championship final will be held in Penang on July 29.
