Kerauno bounces back in style

Unplaced in the Penang Sprint Trophy in late July, KERAUNO bounced back in style to win the Cosmo A set-weight event over 1200m here today.

The Equiano gelding was in fact also unplaced in the Sprint Trophy last year but bounced back with a win a series of placings.

Ridden by Jose De Souza, KERAUNO was parked fourth till the home turn. He then went after the leaders and caught them 200m out. He then dre away to win by half a length. He paid RM69.

KERAUNO was purchased for A$420,000 as a yearling and although he won three races at three and four in Australia, was considered a disappointment considering his price tag.

Sent over to Malaysia, KERAUNO won first-up but has yet to make an impact in the big races. He has now three wins and four placings in 12 starts.
