Lim's Lightning strikes again for hat-trick

LIM'S LIGHTNING resumed after a two-month break to win the Class 3, Div 1 - 1200m sprint at Kranji here tonight, not only completing a hat-trick but also to prove his successful 'graduation' to open company.

The son of Lode De Vega, bought by his owner for a modest A$35,000 as a yearling, battled to a short head-victory in the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe for juveniles in his last start on July 13.

Despite coming up against older horses in his comeback, LIM'S LIGHTNING was installed favourite tonight and justified the confidence punters had in him with a comfortable one-length victory.

Apprentice Troy See had him settled second on the outside of pacemaker ELISE before running the leader down in the final 200m to win with something in hand.

"Tonight, he hit the line very well. He’s a very smart horse with plenty of upsides, and he should get 1400m and even 1600m later," said trainer Steven Burridge. "I’ll probably give him one or two more runs, and then put him away, without doing too much with him. He’s clearly something special."

LIM'S LIGHTNING had now raced four times for three wins and a third (in his debut).

See, unplaced on MAXIMUS in the Korea Cup in Seoul last week, put behind the disappointment to land a double with LIM'S REVERT and LIM'S LIGHTNING.
