Lim's Lightning strikes in Juvenile event

Over the years, Lim Siah Mong of Lim's Stable has purchased many expensive yearlings and two-year-olds through his agents.

In LIM'S LIGHTNING, Lim can be proud of the fact that he personally paid a modest A$35,000 for the son of Lode De Vega at the Horses In Training sale last year.

Trainer Steven Burridge chose to debut his two-year-old in a Novice event three weeks ago instead of one of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe races or in Restricted Maiden company.

LIM'S LIGHTNING did a splendid job to finish third to EYE GUY in that race and with the run behind him, set him up nicely for the S$90,000 IRT Juvenile Stakes, a Singapore Golden Horseshoe series event, over 1200m at Kranji here today.

Ryan Curatolo, who returned to racing after sitting out the last five weeks through injury, had LIM'S LIGHTNING in a handy third behind the pacemaker MAKKEM LAD. The pair easily overtook the leader to win drawing away by four lengths, the most impressive result of the Two-Year-Old series thus far this season.

"He was very comfortable, and when I pushed the button, he just raced away," said Curatolo. "He’s still a bit green, but he will improve further from this race."
