Trainer Rangi Bruce Marsh finally
saddled his first winner of the year when UNCLE LUCKY romped home to an easy
win in the Class 4 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight.
"I
can’t remember when I had to wait for such a long time for my first win here,"
said Marsh who had 29 winners last year. "I’ve
lost a lot of horses coming into this season, and it’s tough when you don’t
have many horses."
"Hopefully, that first win will now make things a little easier for us. I
have a lot of new two-year-olds and three-year-olds who have joined me and
the rest of the season should hopefully be better."
Ridden by Craig Grylls, UNCLE LUCKY settled in second spot before racing
past the pacemaker DASH to win by 2 3/4 lengths. It was fifth win in 27
starts at Kranji.
Costing just NZ$16,000 as a yearling, he ran second once in 2YO Open company
at Avondale in six starts as a juvenile before coming to Singapore.
