PENNYWISE might end up with the biggest prize in the 2018 Singapore Golden Horseshoe series after his smashing debut at Kranji here tonight.

Ridden by Nooresh Juglall, the Argentinean gelding showed plenty of class to trash his rivals by 2 1/2 lengths in the Kranji Nursery Stakes over 1000m on the polytrack.

PENNYWISE was bought for 720,000 pesos as a yearling and was supposed to make his debut with stablemate STREETWISE tonight. But the latter was withdrawn at the barrier, leaving PENNYWISE to prove his worth.

"It’s remarkable how well educated those horses from Argentina are. He got them off the farm and after a couple of trials, this one (PENNYWISE) has put it away," said trainer Ricardo Le Grange.

"Unfortunately the other horse got hooked onto the gates and had to be scratched, but don’t write him off as he’s also got ability."

The series ends with the running of the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe on July 20 and if STREETWISE shows the same kind of ability, then Le Grange may well hve a strong hand in the trophy.
