Two-year-old PLATINUM LIFE put his
older rivals to shame with a runaway win in the Open Maiden event over 1400m
here today.
The son of Lint Lane had finished down in the field in his racing debut over
1200m in Restricted Maiden company last month but quickly stepped it up
today although he was tested over a longer trip.
PLATINUM LIFE took the lead on settling down but EXPLOSIVE FORCE headed him
off at the 800m. Jockey Tan Chee Kit waited till the top of the straight
before challenging the leader.
PLATINUM LIFE regained the lead at the 300m and raced away to win as he
liked by 3 3/4 lengths in the soft going.
Seemingly facing a harder task than his debut, the juvenile was ignored in
the betting and paid RM336.
Trainer Chong Keng Leong bought the gelding for A$43,000 at the Adelaide
Yearling Sale.
