Robin Hood surprises with comeback win

ROBIN HOOD bounced back to form after 15 months to create a big surprise in the Class 3 - 1400m handicap at Kranji here tonight.

The Nom Du Jeu gelding managed just three placings since scoring back-to-back wins early last year and his recent from was hardly encouraging.

Apprentice Noh Senari rode him for the first time last month, finishing eighth over 1700m after going with the pace.

Over the shorter trip today, ROBIN HOOD managed to come from a midfield position to win drawing away by 1-3/4 lengths. He paid $113.

ROBIN HOOD was placed in his only run in New Zealand and was off the mark over 1400m in his third outing in Singapore.

Since then, the gelding has been successful over 1600m and 1700m and hence, his win tonight caught many by surprise.

"I didn’t expect this one (ROBIN HOOD) to win," said Noh who had four ride this evening. "But he was back to his best tonight. He was always travelling nicely for me and kicked clear very well on the long course."
