Stick Seeker wins Selangor Gold Cup

Trainer Lawson Moy notched the first big win of his career when he saddled STICK SEEKER to victory in the RM200,000 Selangor Gold Cup at Sungei Besi here today.

And it was the first big race win too for apprentice Faizal Wahidon.

Moy took over the gelding in the middle of last year after the son of Excites had already won once in Singapore and two races in Malaysia.

Under Moy, STICK SEEKER has been a model of consistency with two wins last year and another to start the 2018 season.

STICK SEEKER was then placed twice in February before taking a short break and he has come back stronger than before in the Gold Cup today.

CAPTAIN JAZZ led into the straight and kicked clear at the 300m. STICK SEEKER was struggling to get going amongst the chasing pack at this stage.

But STICK SEEKER began to make up ground and collared the leader 100m out. He nailed CAPTAIN JAZZ on the line to win by a short head.

STICK SEEKER was placed once from three runs in Australia before coming to Singapore where he raced 11 times for a win.
