Skywalk powers home for easy win

SKYWALK has failed twice (in his only two starts) in group races this season but will likely have a third try in the Lion City Cup this coming Saturday.

Trainer James Peters entered the Battle Paint gelding as a "test run" in a Kranji Stakes B event over 1100m on the polytrack at Kranji today and the four-year-old passed the test with flying colours.

Settling down in midfield, SKYWALK charged home to win drawing away by one length for his sixth win in 14 starts.

"Skywalker had to win today (to be considered for the Lion City Cup) and he won well. He did it tough from the wide gate and the big weight (59.5kgs) today," said Peters. "The only concern is he is a polytrack specialist, we’ll see.”

But then, SKYWALK, purchased by his owners China Horse Club for NZ$100,000 at the Ready To Run sale, has also won twice on the turf.
