Streetwise gets it right after one run

A creditable sixth in his debut two weeks ago, STREETWISE justified the faith punters had in him when he won the Inglis Ready2Race Stakes over 1200m at Kranji here today.

After his sixth placing in the IRT Juvenile Stakes, the Argentinian gelding was installed favourite in the fourth leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe Series today.

STREETWISE obliged, although he did take a long time to get to the front. Settled not far from the leader LIM'S DREAM who set a brisk pace, he was still three lengths behind the front-runner at the 200m.

But under the forceful riding of Braned Vorster, he eventually got going and headed the leader 80m out. Just then SIAM VPASIRI charged home on his outside to stake a claim. STREETWISE held on to win by half a length.

"STREETWISE worked well in the lead-up to his first race, but he drew 14 and it was virtually impossible from that barrier,” said trainer Ricardo Le Grange. "It was still a good run and I was more confident he would run well today. It was a great ride from Barend (Vorster)."
