VOLCANIC GENERAL, who went down to INDIAN JADE by head
last year, proved too classy this time as a cruised to an easy win in the
RM150,000 Perak Gold Vase over the 1100m straight course here today.
Jose De Souza, riding the son of Magnus for the first
time, parked the gelding amongst the chasing pack. AUD DOLLAR, who jumped
brilliantly, immediately set a brisk pace.
As the leader came under under pressure at the 300m, MR
NEVERMIND took over at the 200m with VOLCANIC GENERAL moving up to second
spot on the outside rails.
VOLCANIC GENERAL then raced past the leaders with ease to
win as he liked.
It was the fourth big win for Australian gelding who
captured the Tunku Gold Cup in his Malaysian debut last year and repeated
the win early this year.
Last July, VOLCANIC GENERAL also scored a runaway win in
the Penang Sprint Trophy.
VOLCANIC GENERAL raced for three
seasons in Australia, notching five wins including three at Caulfield before
coming to Malaysia.
