Although far from his peak, AFFLECK showed that he still has what it takes when winning the RM100,000 Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup at Sungei Besi here today.

The Battle Paint gelding was transferred to trainer Shane Ellis after finishing down the field in three starts at Kranji early this year.

Ellis was assistant to Laurie Laxon when the New Zealand bred won eight races for the trainer in Singapore, including the Juvenile Championship in 2014 and the Singapore Guineas in 2015.

AFFLECK later scored once for Lee Freedman (late last year) before moving to Malaysia.

Under Ellis, the now eight-year-old scored first-up but after a subsequent unplaced run, was back in the winner's circle today and what a win it was.

Partnered by Salee Saad who replaced the indisposed Rueven Randindra, AFFLECK make all the running in the Metro A set-weight over 1400m, romping home by 3 1/4 lengths.
