Big Boss calls the shot in fighting win

When trainer Leong Poh Keong took over BIG BOSS briefly last year, the gelding was unplaced in two runs under his care.

Nine runs later, the Hard Spun eight-year-old is back with the veteran trainer and this time, they enjoyed a happy reunion when BIG BOSS scored a narrow victory in the Class 4 - 1400m handicap here today.

Tracking the leader STIRLING from the go, BIG BOSS joined the leader at the home turn and hit the front 200m out. But in the closing stages, DISCRETELY RED and FEISTY LEO put on wings and made it a three-way photo.

BIG BOSS, ridden by apprentice Hafis Saari, managed to hold on by a nose to record his seventh win in 44 starts.
