Contrasting wins by Stirling and Heavenly Gift

Two horses, STRILING and HEAVENLY GIFT, who did not get to run after their respective races were cancelled last week as a result of the adverse track conditions, made up for it to score contrasting wins today.

STRILING, despite finishing in the tailend in his last four outings, was installed odds-on favourite and never gave his backers any anxious moment as he cruised home by 4 1/2 lengths to pay RM9.

It was the nine-year-old's seventh win in 65 starts with four wins recorded in Singapore.

HEAVENLY GIFT, on the other hand, sprang a big surprise to pay RM125.

After failing to win in Singapore, the Australian gelding has picked up five wins in Malaysia, with back-to-back wins in 2017 and again last year.

Evert van Breukelen, the trainer of STIRLING, saddled four other winners to make it his best day at the office.
