survives objection for third win

MISS DUSTY battled to victory in
the Kranji Stakes C (Div 2) event at Kranji here today but had to survive an
objection to secure her third win in eight starts.
The New Zealand mare was lightly-raced with just six runs last year, winning
twice.
MISS DUSTY returned to racing after a short let-up last month and finished
down the field after going with the pace.
This time around, she settled in second spot, shot to the front in the home
stretch and held on to beat beat EAGLE EYE by a short head.
Vlad Duric, rider of EAGLE EYE, lodged a protest for alleged interference
but was quickly dismissed.
"She
benefitted a lot from her first run. She needed to blow the cobwebs," said
Ben Thompson who also rode her last time out. "She was very strong to the
line. She’s got some class that mare. I wasn’t too worried about Vlad’s
objection as he never stopped riding his horse in his usual style."
MISS DUSTY is a half-sister to NOVA
SWISS who's already won six times in 17 starts
in Singapore, after picking up two wins in New Zealand.
