Incredible feat in winning Committee's Prize

I'M INCREDIBLE, who had a late start to his career, is very much a galloper in a hurry.

Bought for NZ$260,000 as a yearling, the son of Lope De Vega had his first race last October, as a four-year-old. He won his second start in Open Maiden company.

Four runs later, he won again in a Kranji Stakes D event and after a four-month break, scored an easy win in Class 4 last month.

Although rated only 69, trainer Shane Baertschiger then took a chance to enter him for the Group 3 $175,000 Committee's Prize over 1600m at Kranji here today.

"When I told the owners, I would run the horse in the Committee’s Prize, they thought I was crazy,” said Baertschiger. "There aren’t a lot of horses on 69 points who run in a Group race, let alone win. But when you look at the field, the other horses may be higher rated than him, but they were beatable."

Baertschiger was proven right.

Ridden by A'Isisuhairi Kassim for the first time today, I'M INCREDIBLE jumped well and was in second spot early before his rider eased him back to third when the leader MAKANANI made a breakaway.

MAKANANI was several lengths clear coming into the home stretch but I'M INCREDIBLE gradually wore him down and went on to by 1 1/2 lengths.
