INFERNO stole the shine from the favourite ROCKET STAR to win the $75,000 Magic Millions 2YOs In Training Sale Stakes at Kranji here today.

ROCKET STAR went into the 1200m sprint, the fourth leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe series, with a record of one win and one second from two starts.

But INFERNO, ridden by Michael Rodd, lowered his colours with a two-length victory.

"He’s a lovely ready-made horse," said trainer Cliff Brown who bought him for NZ$140,000 at the Karaka Sale. "We’re looking at the Group 2 race (the final Leg, the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe over 1200m on July 19) but he has to go home and not get shinsore.”

Rodd said INFERNO has still to face stiffer test to be prove his worth. "Not many two-year-olds are like him. He’s big and rangy. He was three wide and I was happy to hold him up there as there was some scrimmage in front of me, but once he got an uninterrupted run, he showed an amazing turn of foot."
