Inferno blazes to victory in Saas Fee Stakes

Exciting three-year-old INFERNO maintained his unbeaten record to land the S$175,000 Saas Fee Stakes for three-year-olds at Kranji here today.

Having won his last three starts including the Group 3 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe, the Australian gelding was backed as if he could not lose ($6) in today's Group 3 contest over 1200m.

Michael Rodd settled his mount just off the pace and when the pair moved up to within two lengths of the leader QIJI ACHEEVA at the home turn, the results was beyond doubt.

Rodd, who has ridden him in all his starts, could afford to ease him down just before the post and they were 1 3/4 lengths clear of the rest.

"He gave me a painless ride right through. Usually he fires up at the start, but today, he was not the quickest out and I had to give him a squeeze as I didn’t want to be too far away," said Rodd. "he was travelling so well, he was so relaxed, switching off all by himself."

Trainer Cliff Brown will give INFERNO a break and bring him back for the three-year-old series next year.
