Moy leads home clean sweep with hat-trick

For the second straight day, home based trainers made a clean sweep of the card. Yesterday, it was 11 and today, all the 12 races contested at Sungei Besi here.

While Mohd Sukri was the toast of the home brigade with four winners yesterday, today it was the turn of Lawson Moy who led the charge, taking the last three races with WAR DRAGON, PLACE YOUR BET and TALISMAN.

Backed down to RM6 for a win, the WAR DRAGON was simply too good for his rivals, winning by 3 3/4 lengths in the 4YO set-weight event over 1200m.

The New Zeland gelding is a rising star with four wins and two seconds in seven starts. His dam JABOT, winner of two races, is a half-sister to ZIRNA who won seven races in New Zealand and Singapore including the New Zealad Thoroughbred Stakes (G1), Singapore Gold Cup and Raffles Cup.

PLACE YOUR BET was having his third start in Malaysia after managing just one second in 12 starts in Singapore.

Eight-year-old TALISMAN has four previous wins but has not tasted success since the corresponding weekend two years ago.
