Nimble too speedy for rivals again

NIMBLE overcame a wide barrier draw to land a gutsy win in the Kranji Stakes C event over 1200m at Kranji here today to remain unbeaten in four starts in Singapore.

As a result of drawn in barrier 14, the Australian gelding settled well off the pace early. Jockey John Powell then gradually eased him out looking for a run behind a wall of horses at the home turn.

Eventually, NIMBLE got clear but took a little while to get into top gear. Once he did, he swept past the leaders to win by three-quarter length.

NIMBLE was consistent enough in Western Australia without being sensational. He had a win at Pinjarra and was place third twice in four runs at two. Turning three, he managed a second and two fourths from six starts.

"The horse had the fitness to win the race, but I was worried about the 59.5kgs and from the wide barrier, it looked tough for him today,” said trainer Leticia Dragon. "It was by far his toughest test, but what a great ride from JP. I’m over the moon."
