YULONG EDITION picked up his sixth win in Singapore with
another easy victory in the Class 2 - 1600m handicap at Kranji here this
evening.
The Irish gelding was purchased for 95,000 guineas after
his three-year-old campaign in England where he started seven times for two
wins (1609m and 2011m) and two placings.
After finishing last and second last respectively in his
first two outings in Singapore, YULONG EDITION picked up his first Kranji
win in March last year and has since added five more victories to his name:
three wins in four outings late last year and now back-to-back wins.
YULONG EDITION romped home by 2 1/2 lengths in a Kranji
Stakes A event early last month, leading the way over 1800m.
The five-year-old repeated the performance tonight when
he was sent out odds-on favourite and won by one length against seven
rivals.
"This horse keeps stepping up. He’s surprised us a lot,"
said trainer Mark Walker. "He’s still a quirky horse, like he’s still a bit
of a funny horse in the barriers, but he’s in very good form.
To go from 1400m (his first start
of the year) to 1800m and back to 1600m in Class 2 is certainly not easy to
do."
