After managing just one win in 12 starts last year, CHAMPAGNE FINALE has proved to be more than useful with three wins in 11 outings this year.

Although he finished fourth last time out, the Australian gelding was ignored in the betting in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1200m handicap at Kranji here today, due largely to the presence of SURE WILL DO who was gunning for a hat-trick to remain unbeaten. CHAMPAGNE FINALE started at S$185.

Starting odds-on, SURE WILL DO took command on settling down and looked set for victory until the last 50m when CHAMPAGNE FINALE stormed past him to win by three-quarter length. PATTAYA also charged home to beat the favourite for second spot in a race which was run in steady rain.

""I was concerned when the rain came, but because it was the first race that would have a wet track, we got away with it," said trainer Donna Logan. "At his last race, he went well and it’s good to see he’s gone well again."
