CC Foo lands maiden win on Taffetas

Veteran galloper TAFFETAS returned to the winner's circle after 11 months to give apprentice Foo Chei Chuen his long-awaited maiden win here today.

Foo made his debut in 2018 but failed to land a winner in 14 rides. He was again successful in 21 appearances last year.

Foo has ridden 10 times previously in the current season (when he was transferred to Richard Line) with just two placings to show but he seized the opportunity in his only ride of the afternoon today to score on the 11-year-old.

TAFFETAS settled well off the pace early on the rails and it was only in the final 200m that he began to open up and going after the three leaders BLOOD ROYAL, SUNNER STAR and GENERAL TYCOON.

In a matter of a few strides, the 11-year-old shot to the front 80m out to win by 1 1/4 lengths. It was the mare's 11th win in 82 starts stretching back to November 2013.

She was brought to Malaysia after winning twice in nine starts in Australia. After being placed in two of four outings, he was sent to Kranji where she picked up three wins in 2014.

She was back with trainer Richard Lines in 2016 and has gone on to win eight more races.
