After three months of trying, rising apprentice Hakim Kamadaruddin finally scored his first win for trainer Donna Logan when he partnered GOOD LUCK CHARM to victory in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1000m on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

For good measure, the partnership made it a double success with OFFICIAL two races later.

Hakim rode GOOD LUCK CHARM twice before, finding one to beat on both occasion. The Australian five-year-old went on to win his last start with Ruan Maia, but there was to be no mistake when Hakim got another chance today.

It was the third win in 17 starts for GOOD LUCK CHARM.

Hakim was riding OFFICIAL, whose only previous success came in July last year, for the first time and romped home an easy winner in the Class 5, Div 2 - 1700m handicap.

"Hakim’s a very capable rider. He listens to instructions, but obviously horses also run for him," said Logan. "There’s just something about him."

"He thinks about what he is doing, he will go a long way. Most of the time, it’s the first time he gets on my horses as he doesn’t ride them in work, but he rides them to instructions and it’s very encouraging for him."
