Singapore suspends racing until May 4 SINGAPORE: Apr 4, 2020 |
|
In line with the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) latest advisory, Singapore Turf Club (STC) has suspended racing until May 4. STC held the last two meetings behind closed door on Mar 27 and again last night with racing shown live on TV for betting account holders. However, the MOH’s advisory on "Circuit Breaker to Minimise Further Spread of Covid-19" dated yesterday requires all schools and most workplaces, except for essential services, closed for a month from Apr 7 to May 4. Food establishments, markets and supermarkets, clinics, hospitals, utilities, transport and key banking services will remain open during this period. Everyone is urged to stay at home as much as possible and to avoid socialising with others beyond their own household. "We will continue to carefully evaluate and make necessary changes to our business operations in line with the prevailing advisories from MOH and other relevant agencies. The safety and well-being of visitors to the Singapore Racecourse remains the Club’s top priority and we are committed to continue to operate our business in a safe and responsible manner," STC said in a statement today. In Malaysia, the scheduled meeting at Selangor Turf Club on Mar 14 and 15 was cancelled at the last minute and racing has been suspended since. Movement Control Order in the country has been in effect since Mar 18. |
