Ananthen's winning call with Come On Jimmy

Newly-licenced trainer Ananthen Kuppan was quick to get off the mark in his new career when his second runner COME ON JIMMY greeted the judge here today.

The former assistant trainer to Cecil Robert, licensed from Oct 15 till end of the season, made his bow yesterday when he had an unplaced runner.

But COME ON JIMMY, who had an unplaced run under Robert after his transfer from Singapore, made his mark for himself and Ananthen.

COME ON JIMMY was placed four times in 16 runs at Kranji without winning, but found one to beat three times.

The Choisir gelding, drawn the outside barrier in a field of 12, quickly made his way to the front to join a line of three. The five-year-old surged ahead after the 600m and went on to win by 2 3/4 lengths.

GRAND CROSS chalked up his 13th win in the local circuit when he captured the JRA Goodwill Cup, an Enrich Stakes A event over 1100m. The Fastnet Rock gelding won two races in Australia before picked up five wins in Singapore.

The Cup win today was his eighth win in Malaysia.
