Hakim the King of Kranji with two titles

Hakim Kamaruddin celebrated a historic season with a double on KING ARTHUR and EAGLE EYE in the final day of the Singapore 2021 racing season at Kranji here today.

The Malaysian went started the day five winners ahead of second-placed Danny Beasley who failed to land a winner in 10 rides.

The double brought Hakim's tally to 59 for the season and he became the first since Benny Woodworth in 1995 to win both the senior and apprentice titles.

"To win the senior and junior title at only his second year of riding, it goes to show how very talented Hakim is," said his master Mark Walker.

"There is potentially so much more improvement to come out of Hakim. That’s why I’m sending him to New Zealand where the opportunity to ride for Te Akau all around the country will be the making of him."

Walker himself won the trainer's title — his fourth — with a haul of 66 winners.
