Lee's Star shines in 3YO Special Stakes

After three placings from his first seven starts, LEE'S STAR broke through with a runaway win in a Class 5 -1300m handicap here last week.

The New Zealand gelding then completed a double with a hard-fought win in the 3YO Special Stakes over 1200m today.

With the cancellation of the 3YO Championship and the 4YO Challenge series this year, the Penang Turf Club stage a special race for 4YOs last week and another for 3YOs today.

However, today's racing was confined to local based horses after Malaysia imposed a national Movement Control Order. At the eleventh hour, the meeting was closed to racing fans as well.

LEE'S STAR was well up with the pace early and moved up to second spot at the home turn. Jockey Salee Saad made a break away on the gelding at the 300m and it paid off.

SHINE SHINE was cutting him down with every stride in the final 100m but LEE'S STAR just held on to win by a short head.
