Lim's Lightning strikes in Singapore return

LIM'S LIGHTNING made a triumphant return to racing in Singapore when he captured the Class 2 - 1200m in a three-way photo at Kranji here today.

The Lode De Vega gelding left for Australia soon after finishing third to TOP KNIGHT in the Group 1 Singapore Guineas in 2019. The year prior, he won four consecutive races including the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe. 

Down Under, LIM'S LIGHTNING had a rather disappointing campaign when he struck just once in eight starts, winning over 1105m at the provincial track Werribee.

Back in Singapore, LIM'S LIGHTNING won one of several trails before making his comeback today when he had to overcome a wide draw, raced well off the pace early before running down the front-running FAME STAR in the shadows of the winning post to win by head.

"It’s great to see him win again first-up," said trainer Daniel Meagher. "I’ll see how the horse pulls up. I may look at the Lion City Cup next, he’s beaten some of the best sprinters today, so why not?"

Bought by his owner for A$35,000 at the 2YOs In Training sale, LIM'S LIGHTNING has now five wins in 11 starts in Singapore.
