Maia starts new season with treble

Ruan Maia, who finished just three wins short of Vlad Duric in the premiership last year, has started the new season on a superb note when he booted home at Kranji here today, whilst the defending champion is serving a two-day suspension for careless riding

Maia is widely tipped to finish top of the table this year and it helps that he started the new season on such a bright note.

Maia took the opening race on PER INCROWN, and went on to score on SUPER INVINCIBLE and SURPASS NATURAL.

PER INCROWN notched his first win nine starts in Singapore when tested over the 1600m for the first time. The New Zealand gelding was was in five of his six runs back home before coming to Singapore.

SUPER INVINCIBLE made it two wins (and two seconds) in five runs in Singapore, having picked up two wins and three seconds in six outings in Australia.

SURPASS NATURAL won first-up for Jerome Tan following a recent transfer. The Reset gelding began his career with five consecutive wins in 2019, picked up another win late in the season but managed to score just once last year.
