Manoel Nunes hits 500th Singapore win

Manoel Nunes landed his 500th Singapore win astride GOOD FIGHT at Kranji here today and promptly marked the occasion with a treble.

It has been a long time coming. He was riding trebles, and more, with regularity from 2014 to 2017, winning three championship titles and setting a record 122 winners in 2015.

Nunes is back in Singapore after nearly four years away with 495 wins to his name.

GOOD FIGHT found one to beat in his last start over 1400m after setting the pace and today, came from just behind the leaders to win the Open Maiden contest over 1200m.

Nunes went on to score on INTREPID and SUPERIOR COAT.

"It’s not easy to win 500 races anywhere in the world, especially in Singapore," said Nunes. "The last four years I rode here were very tough. I can’t mention everybody, but I had Joao Moreira in my first year, which already set the tone."

"Hopefully, next year I can hit the next mark – make it to 2,000 wins here."
