Paletas defies promotion for hattrick

After three wins on the polytrack, PALETAS not only defied a promotion but proved to be just as useful on the turf when he captured the Class 3 - 1200m handicap at Kranji here today.

The Iffraaj gelding had failed twice on the turf previously. But after narrow wins in his last two runs on the polytrack, the four-year-old showed vast improvement this time to come from behind to complete a hattrick.

"He was travelling very well off the speed and once he saw daylight, he quickened very well again. He’s a horse I like a lot," said jockey Shafrizal Saleh.

PALETAS, a half-brother to BLITZ POWER, has now won four of eight starts.

Meanwhile, SUN OPS made it two wins from two starts in Singapore with an easy win in the Class 3 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack. The Australian gelding won two races over 900m in Australia and was placed third in the Group 3 Breeders' Plate at Randwick.
