After three placings in the USA and another four since
his arrival in Malaysia, AIR BOSS finally broke through for his maiden win
in the Class 4 - 1400m handicap here today, before the rest of the programme
was called off.
The American bred was sold for US$105,000 at a
Two-year-old in training sale and only started racing at three when he was
placed in three of six starts including one at Santa Anita.
Shipped to Malaysia, AIR BOSS was placed in four of eight runs for trainer
Sharee Hamilton before his transfer to Lim Hoon Seng last month.
His first run for Lim was dismal, finishing 10th of 12 runners just two
weeks ago.
Today, however, AIR BOSS settled in midfield early and moved up to fourth
from the 1000m. The pacemaker MR G was tackled by PLACE YOUR BET at the 400m
and the pair went stride-for-stride the rest of the way.
AIR BOSS struggled to get going, several lengths behind them, at the top of
the straight but eventually closed the gap in the final 100m. He went on to
win 3/4 length from MR G.
Heavy rain fell prior to the
running of Race 5. The Racing
Stewards taking into consideration the inclement weather and the
water-logged track, decided to abandon the remainder of today’s races.
