High five for trainer Michael Clements

Michael Clements might have been one of the top trainers in Singapore and won the premiership in 2020 but he has never had a day like today — saddling five winners in one afternoon.

LUCKY CHARM notched his maiden win to give Clements his first strike of the day and GREATHAM GIRL brought up her third win for his second.

Later in the afternoon, he won three races in quick succession with SOUTH OF THE RIVER, ABSOLUTE RADIANCE and PRODIGAL.

It was back-to-back wins for SOUTH OF THE RIVER who was resuming after a 10-month break.

ABSOLUTE RADIANCE, a NZ$100,000 purchase at the Ready To Run sale, broke the duck after seven outings.

PRODIGAL, however, provided the most thrilling win of the day when he came from the rear of the field early and got up in the last stride to win by a head in the Class 4 - 1600m handicap for his third win in 19 starts.

"I had five (winners in a day) back home in Zimbabwe," said Clements. "I’ve had four in Singapore, so this (result) is a first for me in Singapore."

Clements sits third in the 2022 table. Tim Fitzsimmons and Donna Logan saddled one winner each in their battle to win the premiership with the score at 56-55.
