For the third time year, apprentice
Clyde Leck booted home six winners in a single meeting in what looks
increasingly like his championship season.
His six wins at Sungei
Besi here today brought his tally to 67 for the
season. With just six meetings left of the season, Clyde is 14 winners ahead
of Rueven Ravindra
who rode a double today. Incidentally, Rueven is the only other rider to
achieve a six-winner feat during the year.
It was an incredible feat to ride
six winners in a meeting three times in a season, something unprecedented.
Clyde, indentured to his father Charles Leck, only started riding last year.
"Really happy to be able to get six winners in a day for
the third time," said Clyde. "I guess the third time in really the charm."
"Thankful for the support from my dad and (trainer) Simon
Dunderdale who have been providing me with winners after winners.
"I would like to thank the Selangor Turf Club Apprentice
School for giving us time and opportunity to broaden our spectrum and racing
knowledge and keeping us fit as well. I will do my best to improve on race
riding and hopefully there will be more days like this."
Clyde reeled off three consecutive races on WANTED
PAYOUT, PERFECT BRANDZ and THE MAREEBA MANGO.
He went on to win three more races
with BERRY BLISS, NAUGHTY KID and MENTAL. All his six winners started
favourite in their respective races.
