Fahmi finally has his golden moment

Having been placed seven times in nine rides before today, it was always of question of when and not if for Fahmi Rosman.

Fahmi was one of two rookie apprentices granted licences at the start of the year. Two weeks ago, Faiz Khair landed his first win after 77 rides.

Fahmi's debut was delayed due to an unfortunate injury. "I was supposed to start riding in the races in January, but I fell off a horse and tore the ligament on my right knee," revealed Fahmi.

Fahmi finally made his bow last June and immediately showed what he is capable of.

Fahmi is indentured to Dan Meagher but it was Stephen Gray who provided him with his breakthrough success on SILENT IS GOLD in the Class 4 - 1200m handicap at Kranji here today.

With two recent trials on the Star Turn gelding recently, Fahmi struck a perfect understanding with the four-year-old.

SILENT IS GOLD jumped best and led early but was headed by LAST SAMURAI making the turn off the back straight. They matched strides till the home straight where SILENT IS GOLD kicked clear at the 200m.

LAST SAMURAI raising another effort close to home and PACIFIC STAR was flashing home. But SILENT IS GOLD held on to win by a length.

""It’s so overwhelming. I cried because I’m too happy," said Fahmi after the race.

It was the third win in seven starts for SILENT IS GOLD who was second to GOLDEN MONKEY in the Group 3 Singapore 3YO Sprint and joint fourth to the same horse in the Classic in his last two starts.
